Dinner date review: restaurant Parklife in Bangsar The Sphere

Last week we joined a new restaurant for the Dinner date review. I am looking forward to this on Monday and can’t wait until Friday to have a nice dinner at a new restaurant. This time we reserved a table at restaurant Parklife in The Sphere.

The Sphere

Last year on King’s Day we took the Grab to The Sphere. Situated in the business center you will find a cozy shopping center that consists mainly of restaurants. During the week it is very busy around lunchtime. When we were here last year, on a Saturday, there was nothing to do here. Many restaurants weren’t even open yet, except for the Dutch cafe, Koffie Craft. After this, we never came here again, because we assumed that there wasn’t much to do here.

Chinatown

We are very happy that we booked a table at Parklife in Bangsar. They have another location, recently opened, in Chinatown where we have been before for our dinner dates. Anyway, The Sphere is hot and also very busy in the evening with everyone who comes here for a bite to eat after work, or like us. I had been to Parklife once before for lunch and was very curious about what they serve here in the evening.

Vegan platter

Now, during the CMCO (we’ve already had so many different abbreviations that I don’t know what it means anymore. It comes down to the fact that we now live according to the ‘new normal’ where we are free to go wherever we want on condition that we keep our distance) they have a special menu where you can share small snacks. When I had lunch here with a group, we ordered the ‘Vegan platter’ and the ‘Vegetarian platter’. Both delicious platters were full of grilled vegetables, slices of bread, and dip. You can share the large platter with four people and costs RM128 (€26).

Palestinian cauliflower

We ordered vegetarian tapas to share, such as ‘potato wedges’ sweet potato with garlic, rosemary, and a delicious sauce. The ‘Palestinian cauliflower’ was our favorite, even though it contained cinnamon that I am not a big fan of. The fried cauliflower had a crispy bite, and the mix of herbs (cinnamon, cumin) made this the perfect snack. You must have tried the hummus here! The dip is deliciously soft, and the pomegranate seeds give it a fresh taste. Of course, you can combine this dip with the ‘Roasted eggplant’ with basil and cherry tomatoes. Everything is freshly prepared, and you can taste it right away. The food is just shoved off the grill onto your plate, and the portions are just big enough to share. We had a delicious meal here, and besides that, it was nice to sit outside with a jar of ‘Sparkling infused water with mixed fruits’.

Fruits and vegetables

The good thing about Parklife is that you can also sit on the terrace. This is covered, so in case of a Malaysian tropical shower, you’re at least dry. Inside they have certainly paid attention to the interior. You look into the open kitchen and is flooded with fresh fruit and vegetables in wooden trays ready to be prepared. In a cozy corner are several books for sale. A nice restaurant where you can sit inside or outside. The atmosphere was already good!

London Hyde Park

‘Parklife’s passion is simple: celebrating life through healthy, wholesome, and tasty food. Therefore, we let the food unite people.’

The name Parklife is inspired by the song of Blur, a rock band from London. In this restaurant, they want to convey the feeling of London Hyde Park. Where young couples picnic in the grass, old couples read the newspaper over a cup of coffee and where children laugh and play with each other. The restaurant wants to be a pioneer when it comes to healthy, nutritious, and tasty food. Parklife tries to create an image where healthy food is also tasty and looks good.
