Healthy ice cream? Try a scoop of ‘Almond Brittle Fudge’ at Kind Kones

When I knew we were moving to Kuala Lumpur, I was happy. We saw it as a huge adventure, but I also thought of something else. Finally, I can stop eating desserts, because in Malaysia the only thing they do is eating rice all day haha. Never been more wrong in my life. I have never seen so many coffee bars, bakeries and ice cream shops in one city. Fortunately, there is also a healthier variant for all these treats, namely the ice cream shop “Kind Kones”.

Kind Kones

After dinner, you need to have a dessert. At least, that’s what I think. When you are out for dinner, having a delicious main course and after that? You ask for the bill… That’s not how it works in my head. Although I have to admit we often skip the desserts here, otherwise we have to go to the gym way more often. But last week we felt like a dessert and we found a small ice cream shop called Kind Kones.

Gluten-free and whole-grain cones

After we were able to widely taste the different flavors, we finally made a choice. But you’re not there yet! There is another selection to make for you. You have to choose which type of cone you want. There is also a difference in that and you can also taste this first, can this get any better? The cones are also homemade; one is gluten-free and the other whole-grain. A scoop costs RM9,90 (€2,15) but the scoops are so large that you don’t need more than one.

Cashew and coconut milk

I found this ice cream really delicious! I could have eaten three scoops, but that is for the next time. I was not sure what to expect from a scoop of ice cream based on cashew milk and coconut milk. The coconut dominates a bit, but it’s not annoying. I am already looking forward to the next time to try a new taste! “Taste the pleasure, not the guilt!” my motto from now on.

Vegan ice cream

Kind Kones Vegan Ice Cream & Wholesome Treats, that’s the original name of this store. Vegan is extremely popular and is even becoming more famous. Sometimes I see vegan products in the grocery, but I never buy it. Usually, it is very expensive and what if it turns out to be a disappointment? When you eat vegan, it means that you don’t consume animal products. So for example, no meat, fish, milk, cheese, eggs and honey.

‘Pumpkin Pie’ and ‘Charcoal Vanilla’

At Kind Kones they have the most varied tastes. From ‘Dragonfruit Banana Sorbet’ and ‘Almond Brittle Fudge’ to ‘Pumpkin Pie’ and ‘Charcoal (I know, it really said charcoal!) Vanilla’. How to make a choice? The nice thing is that you are immediately asked what taste you would like to try. Before you know it, you have tried the entire assortment.

Refined sugars, preservatives and additives

All ice cream flavors at Kind Kones are dairy and egg-free and are homemade with 100% natural, unprocessed ingredients. So, no refined sugars, preservatives and additives. Well, that doesn’t really mean anything to me so I asked Google for help. Refined sugars are, for example, crystal, caster and cane sugar. Nice, but of course not healthy if you take too much of it. And I like a lot of ice cream. Preservatives are added to products to ensure that they last longer. So if there are no preservatives in ice cream it means that they only prepare fresh ice cream. A lot healthier than most ice cream in shops.
