The 7 best restaurants in Canggu, Bali

Rice fields, small shops, beautiful beaches, scooters and countless restaurants. Can you summarize Bali like this? And especially in those restaurants, that was the place where you could find us. For a week we had a delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner and even more. A list of our top 7 best restaurants in Canggu, Bali.

Satu Satu – breakfast

This ‘coffee company’ is open seven days a week from eight in the morning until half-past four in the afternoon. When you come here for breakfast, make sure you arrive on time. From half-past nine the terrace at Satu Satu is completely full and there is no place left inside either. On the menu are delicious fresh smoothies, pancakes, bagels with avocado and many egg variations. The restaurant was opened by a Balinese family who is known for making the best coffee in Bali. Success guaranteed!

Ritual Coffee & Eatery – coffee and breakfast

At first sight, Ritual Coffee & Eatery looks like a coffee shop where you come for a coffee to go and a croissant. Once inside you’ll see that there’s more room than expected and on the top floor there is even a whole room where you can work (in the air conditioning). So a great atmosphere and an amazing menu! We enjoyed an acai bowl (we still don’t know how to pronounce it) with coconut flakes, chia seed and fresh fruit. A healthy morning! To our surprise, a lot of people are sitting here with their laptops at the table while enjoying an ‘Iced caramel latte’. Not a bad place to work.

Warung Goûthé – lunch

This French place is full of, you guessed it, French tourists. We now understand why. Every day at Warung Goûthé fresh bread is baked here and the best cakes are prepared. There is no menu, you can find this written on the door. The drinks are so big, at least you know for sure you won’t dry out here. It is also possible to take the cakes home with you, nice for by the pool. The dishes are true works of art and are freshly prepared outside by the chef. The only drawback is that you are on a busy road and can, therefore, suffer from traffic. On the other hand, there is also room inside and you can even sit nice and cool.

Mason – small snacks

This huge restaurant with high ceilings is not to be missed if you take a scooter through ‘Batu Bolong Street’. A modern look with an outdoor terrace and long tables inside where you can meet new people during a bite to eat. Before we knew it we were at the table at Mason with four other Dutch people and we had a common subject to talk about: food. Ideally, they gave us their recommendations, which we were all too happy to accept. The table was full of white fish, tender lamb, hummus, caramelized cauliflower, Tiger beer and a glass of wine. The dishes are quickly prepared in the open kitchen where you can also take a look and cost an average of €5 each.

The Slow – dinner

Our last evening in Bali we enjoyed the delicious food at The Slow. In the heart of Canggu you will find this restaurant and boutique hotel. A main course costs an average of €10, but you can also take some small dishes for €5 each. The ‘Zucchine flower’ is highly recommended. Deep-fried zucchini with ricotta and lemon, it is almost a pity that this is just a small bite because before you know it, it’s gone. We couldn’t get enough of the ‘Crispy potato’ with the ‘vegemite mayo’. I don’t know what was in the mayonnaise, but it was delicious! Then it was time for dessert. Art is central in the restaurant and this is also reflected in the food. The ‘Burnt Marshmallow’ is perfect when you have eaten enough, but still, want something sweet. If you have some more space left, the ‘Pop’ is a must. White chocolate ice cream with peanut butter on a stick. Doesn’t it sound attractive? Take a look at the picture and wait until you taste it yourself!

Ji Sushi – dinner

After the sushi from Tokyo, we didn’t think there would be another restaurant that could surpass this until we sat down at Ji Sushi‘s table. This restaurant has two floors and makes sure you have a place on top of the terrace. With a cool sea breeze, you can enjoy fresh sushi, prepared by two chefs who have more than fifteen years of experience in preparing the best and freshest sushi. You can choose to order a la carte or, as we know it in the Netherlands: all you can eat. When you leave a review on Tripadvisor, you get dessert for free! The ‘Melted Chocolate Ball’ is topped with warm caramel sauce and when it opens, there’s a scoop of ice cream in there. We also chose the ‘Sweet Bento Box’. Japanese often eat a Bento Box for lunch. This is a box containing small savory snacks. The sweet variant is filled with ice fruit and meringue. After this delicious food, you can go to Old Men’s for a drink.

Da Romeo – dinner and cocktails

This Italian restaurant is only open in the evening for dinner with impressive cocktails. It is possible to book online and is recommended to do so, as it is very busy here every night. If you don’t have a reservation, you might have to wait. This is not too bad at all, take a seat at the bar and let the bartenders do the work for you. Da Romeo uses local products and works with Balinese farmers. For a small appetite, the ‘Round’ pizzas are on the menu. If you prefer to share a pizza, choose the ‘Pala’. By the way, you can also easily have this larger pizza on your own…
